Join us for an enlightening café session as we explore the crucial role of fostering, funding and supporting scientific research and addressing misinformation and mistrust in science.
A recent publication (Sesin et al. 2023) in the journal Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, detailed our view that the scientific research on chemicals, climate change and the SARS-Cov-2 virus (the COVID-19 disease) have a common link – the research was an important foundation for understanding the harm they posed to environmental and public health, as well as being the target of misinformation and disinformation. In this café, we plan to highlight the common link and actions that scientists might need to take to see that their research is not misused. The café will also take from sessions held at previous SETAC meetings where misinformation and mistrust of science have been a focal topic.
The café will feature three presentations, drawing directly on the published manuscript, as well as any new, similar information made public since the manuscript was completed.
